WORD OF FAITH REUNION A HUGE SUCCESS!

It was always more than a name. It was people. When God spoke to me 58 years ago and told me, “I will put my Word in your mouth…even the Word of Faith,” I knew something miraculous had come to my life and ministry. We incorporated the name in October of 1951 and never looked back.

Through the years, people of every kind came to be a part of our great family. It was more than a traditional church; it was truly "the family of God."

On the 39th Anniversary of our move into the building on 5600 Read Boulevard, June 7, 1970, those who had at one time or another been a part of this great family decided to come together in a great reunion. The only invitations sent out were sent to those who had served and are serving as Pastors of the Family. No other invitations were sent. It was just one person telling another…and it became like a miracle multiplication.

Sunday afternoon, June 7, from 3 PM to 6 PM they came…some from 15 and 20 years ago and some who are still a part today—they were Young, Old, Black, White, Asian, Hispanic—and they came from more than ten states, such as Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Minnesota, Florida and more. 

In all of my years as a minister and pastor, I have never before seen such love poured out—to our whole Family but so much more to their old friends and Godly people.

Many of the people from different eras were called on to say a few words, and then it was finally time for Barbara and Charles—remember them…they are the people who started the whole thing with ten people.  Almost everyone who spoke had problems getting through their tears. When it was my turn, I told them who the real heroes were—first, the great people who heard the Word, believed it and acted upon it, then Barbara, my secret weapon who did far more than was ever advertized. Then it was time to talk about the faithfulness, dedication, excellence and sacrifice of our children.  

People came, stayed and did not want to leave. Close to 500 people were in attendance. Our Family is truly blessed and loved, and the Sunday Reunion was the latest proof. They are already asking when can we do it again. It is too soon to discuss that, but this we will always remember…for once, there was a place and a time that we could have called “Camelot”—a Spiritual, Holy Spirit Camelot that was bathed in more love than I have ever witnessed in one day.

Thanks to those who started the “ground swell” idea that developed into this magnificent Reunion. We will not call any names, but you know who you are, and now we know who you are…and you are one terrific bunch. No Pastors, no Leaders…ever had any better. God be with you. You are blessed!
